Current 2022 Chairman of NAB (National Accountability Bureau) Pakistan
The incumbent government on Thursday dated (21st July 2022) approved the appointment of the former director general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Aftab Sultan, as chairperson of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). According to insider sources, the federal cabinet met today and approved Sultan’s appointment.
Who is Aftab Sultan?
Born in 1954, Mr Aftab Sultan belonged to Faisalabad and did BA/LLB. He had joined the Police Service of Pakistan as ASP in 1977. He was promoted to the rank of SP in 1983 and then to the rank of DIG in 2000. Keeping in view his tremendous performance, the government promoted him to Grade-21 in 2007 and he was posted as Additional IG (Welfare and Finance).
During his service, Aftab Sultan served on key postings in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sahiwal, Khushab, Faisalabad, and also in the Special Branch. He has also served as DIG Sargodha, DIG Elite Police Force, DIG Welfare and Finance, and Director (R&D). Aftab Sultan was appointed as DG (IB) in October 2011, after being promoted to grade 22.
Aftab Sultan is recognized as a dead-honest, dutiful and professional police officer in the police circles.
